A New Beginning

I have wandered
down these winding roads
for far too long.
Not knowing
what will be lurking
around the next bend.

A new beginning.

Oh, how I've wished
for a chance
to begin anew
and start over again.
Longing for an opportunity
to break free
of society's grasp
and show the real me.

Moments arose,
but I didn't seize them.
Or, more like
I tried to but couldn't
because I didn't know
who I really was.

However,
times have changed,
things have happened,
memories have been
pushed away into the depths
of the far reaches of my mind.
Accessible,
but not overwhelming.

I thought
that I would never
get another chance.
That I had used
all of mine up.
I was wrong.

A new beginning.

Future hopes,
dreams,
and desires
are becoming clearer.
And I have finally
latched onto a hope.
A hope to soon show the world
the person who has yet to fully emerge.
